Individual personal characteristics’ influence on a person’s career choice in a medical psychology field

Abstract

A successful career choice is vital for your confidence, happiness and understanding your value in the society. It is worth noting that the process of choosing a future profession is quite complex and is influenced by various factors. In regards to this, a problem of connection between individual personality traits and professional capability is important. Solving it means determining which tendencies, abilities and other individual psychological qualities a person possesses, which activity would bring them most feeling of harmony, and prognosing a degree to which individual psy-chological qualities influence their identity as a professional.Importance of certain professions is rising due to scientific progress and the growing complexity of the world. One of such professions is a medical psychologist. Nowadays, with social processes becoming more dynamic, difficult situations in relationships, families, and communities arise frequently. Because of social deprivation, the meaning of psychological knowledge and its practical use is enhanced. Considering the importance of psychology as a profession, we have taken interest in finding out which individual personality traits are prevalent in medical psychology students. Therefore, the goal of our research is to determine the variety of personality and character traits among students whose future job will be medical psychologist.
