Peculiarities of chromatographic studies of the degree of purity of the sodium metamizole substance

Abstract

Metamizole sodium monohydrate (Analgin or [(1,5-dimethyl-3-oxo-2-

phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-N-methylamino] sodium methanesulfonate) is a well- known drug with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect, but under certain

conditions can lead to undesirable effects, such as Quince’s edema, anaphylactic shock, Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Quality control of the substance metamizole sodium must be carried out carefully in order to timely detect unacceptable accompanying impurities that will be dangerous to the health and life of the patient.
