Use of pegylated interferon in the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C in Ukraine: some problems and prospects

Abstract

The data on the state of the problem of the use of pegylated interferon in the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C in Ukraine in connection with the introduction of new direct antiviral drugs and the revision of WHO’s strategy in the treatment of patients with CHC. The results of the study on the use of domestic Ukraine`s peginterferon alfa-2b recombinant human – Alfapeg in 47 adult patients with chronic hepatitis C in the complex therapy with ribavirin. SVR was achieved in 38 (81%) of all 47 patients treated Alfapeg. Based on these studies it was concluded that satisfactory and good tolerability of the study medication, its adequate antiviral activity, high efficacy and safety when used in the complex treatment of adults 47 chronic hepatitis C patients (30 patients with 3 and 2 genotypes and 17 patients with 1b HCV genotype).
