Influenza. Clinical Lecture. Part 2

Abstract

Second part of the lecture completes review of the virus epidemiology, disease pathogenesis, problems of adaptation of avian strains of influenza virus to mammals. A clinical course of the disease, including characteristics which is caused by new pandemic strains are described in details. Also, there is given the diff erential diagnostics of influenza with the most common in medical practice infectious diseases. Among others, peculiarities of modern treatment of various forms of influenza and its major complications are described. Problems of resistance to current antiviral drugs, as well as specifi c and nonspecifi c prophylaxis of infl uenza are analyzed.
