Determinants Of Pharmacists’ Support For And Readiness To Implement The Protocol For Dispensing Medicines For The Treatment Of Diabetes Mellitus Under The “Affordable Medicines” Program

Abstract

Standardization of pharmaceutical care in the management of diabetes mellitus (DM) is an important component of improving the quality and safety of pharmacotherapy, given the chronic nature of the disease, polypharmacy, and the risk of medication-related errors. Within the framework of reimbursement programs and the digitalization of prescription dispensing, there is an increasing need for structured protocols/algorithms to guide pharmacists’ actions in the provision of pharmaceutical services (PS). However, the successful implementation of such protocols depends not only on their scientific validity but also on their acceptance by pharmacy professionals and the organizational readiness of community pharmacies to adopt changes.
