A case severe reaction to antiviral therapy of chronic hepatitis C

Abstract

The report describes a case of severereactionto combination therapywithPEG-IFN-α2/ribavirin as severe systemic and cutaneous toxic-allergic reaction and exacerbation of psoriasis as erythroderma with total skin lesions. Reaction developed due to inappropriate selection of patients for treatment, and the imperfect care after the patient. The authors emphasize the need of careful patient›s monitoring during the fi rst 12–16 weeks of antiviral treatment, especially in persons with a history of premorbid background.
